New "rating" system
Rather than using the ubiquitious star rating to give a brief overview of what I thought of a game, I'm doing away with the stars and refining the meaning I was trying to convey with them. I plan on having nice spiffy graphical represenations for the site proper, but for the time being I'll just use one word explanations. The new overview system is now defined as such:- Superior: The cream of the crop.
- Great: Very enjoyable, but may have been done better elsewhere
- Good: Compelling but problematic.
- Alright: Passes the time, but isn't a keeper.
- Bad: Expect problems that seriously hamper your enjoyment.
- Terrible: It really annoyed me but there is worse out there.
- Avoid: I’d sell the game if it wasn’t for the fact some other sucker would have to endure it.
This isn't directly translatable in to a star system. Alright, for example, is the middle of the spectrum here that isn't a single point but a zone. Superior could be traditionally anywhere from 4 to 5 stars, while great could be anywhere from 3 to 4.5 stars. Trying to quantify these overviews will simply result in incorrect and inconsistent ratings.
